SCENE #17: CONTINUED:
HANNAH
Where’s Reid?
AMY
Dunno. He’s in another scene somewhere with some ridiculously hot prison guard. I haven’t talked to him once all night.
HANNAH
What? He invited you here on a date, and he’s with another girl?
AMY
It’s not a date, Hannah. Not even close. I am such an idiot.
HANNAH
No you’re not - -
AMY
Yes I am. I totally misread the situation. He wasn’t asking me out, he was just looking for volunteers.
HANNAH
Well, how were you supposed to know that?
Milo pokes in:
MILO
Amy? Some kid’s got your head.
AMY
In a minute, Milo.
(then)
I just want to die . . .
HANNAH
I’m so sorry. Reid is a total jerk for doing this.
AMY
No, he’s not. I’m just stupid, that’s all. Honestly, why would I have ever assumed he liked me? He’s nice to everybody. And now he probably knows that I like him. . . it’s so humiliating.
She bangs her painted head against the wall. Poor Amy.
HANNAH
Go home, sweetie.
AMY
I can’t just leave.
HANNAH
Yes you can. You take Sam, and I’ll take your place. You’ve had enough.
AMY
Really?
HANNAH
It’s not a real relationship unless you’re willing to make sacrifices, right?
Girlfriends are so rad. She engulfs Hannah in a giant hug.
AMY
You’re so my favorite person.
HANNAH
Back at ya. Now go.
Amy walks out. Hannah adjusts her sweater set, then steps out, where Milo holds the line back.
MILO
Who are you?
HANNAH
Understudy. So I go up here?
She climbs on the stand in the fake cornfield, playing dead. Milo lets ‘em through, she waits . . . then springs to “life”:
HANNAH (CONT’D)
Auggghhh!!!!
Off our CUSTOMERS. Not so scared, really.
SCENE #18: EXT. CAMPSITE. NIGHT. (N4)
It’s late, and Ephram sits alone by the glow of the fire. We hear a tent flap zip open, and Andy climbs out, surprised to find Ephram there.
DOCTOR BROWN
Couldn’t sleep either?
EPHRAM
Whoever’s idea it was to serve pork and beans with Bright around ought to be shot. I thought we had a frog in the tent.
